Completed week 6 run 1 tonight, covered the most milage so far (2.1 mile not including warm up/cool down) and felt great until i had around 2 minutes left and my knee/leg started to ache a little. Since i started i have had some pain/tenderness in the left side of my leg just under my right knee after my runs which is worse when going up or down stairs but never server pain and it always goes after a day so i have always been ready for my next run. I just put it down to my body getting used to the exercise. Today is the 1st time it has actually hurt (not bad just enough to notice) while running. It feels tender if i press it but not if i just feel it and i think it is very slightly swollen. Any advice please? Luckily my hubby is a keen runner who had a spare knee support that doesn't fit him but fits me so i currently have that on. Praying this won't stop me as i really want to finish the whole programme. π

Sorry about your injury AM2020, if it continues see a doctor, that's all we can advise here on C25K.
The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Hi there - as someone currently resting to avoid an injury I feel your pain (attempt to lighten the load with a bit of humour!). My physio said if I continue to run now, I am at risk of a proper injury, whereas, if I just wait for a week or two and do the physio I should be good to go. I can only offer the same sensible if frustrating advice....if you want to run for the long term then sort out any issues first. You can pick up where you left off when fixed. I am doing my physio so carefully and determinedly so that i can get back out there. Good luck...and happy, healthy running.
Hi it sounds like runners knee. I've got the same. My doctor diagnosed yesterday. Was gutted as I'd had 3 week rest and went running the other day and knee has flared up again. hrts to straighten or bend down on it. I I could be wrong but maybe get it checked out. My doc advised me to rest it for at least month or otherwise could damage it more. I was absolutely shocked gutted. But I know I've tried resting it took breaks done the ice pack pain relief etc. So but as soon as run it's back.
Hope you get sorted soon. In meantime I'm going to strengthen my quad muscles with which doc said would help so maybe cycling etc he has gave some physio exercises also. They are on the NHS website. They injury is called pfp I think.
Good luck x
Thanks everyone
