Our running coaches tell us we may like to have a snack after our run, some fruit and a drink. My inner ego, Enid, argues that it should be fruit cake or at least a biscuit with a cup of tea.
We debate over a banana, almonds, figs and apricots.
What is your favourite snack?

Oh wow, flapjack sounds wonderful. I will be searching for the recipe tonight. Does it have to be just after a run? It may be my downfall. π No emoji for flapjack...how restrictive. ππ
I donβt necessarily given in to it but itβs certainly on the forefront of my β rewardβ food .
I try and be good and have some fruit with flavoured quark , chia seeds and a weetabix crumbled over the top ( canβt eat soggy stuff / soggy weetabix π€’) I do rather like digestible thins π€π
Sounds like you have this sussed. A square of dark chocolate is my "go to" at night but I love the sound of your treat. Sounds like a breakfast yummy feast. ππ»ββοΈππ
That snack looks deee-lish--- us! I think I'd end up eating far to much of that with possibly, dire consequences! I'm with Enid. Mine would be cake or scones.... or even a piece of toast and marmalade π₯°. But I am usually too lazy to make the former and often have to resort to having an apple!! My hubby has a very sweet tooth, so the only way I can stop him eating bad things is not to buy them π€. Oohhh, flapjack. Used to have that a lot, but strangely, every time I did and went to the cupboard the next day, it was bare.... I wonder why..... ???? πππ
Ha ha, great response, Apatsyf. Hand in the cupboard for the nuts and back in 5 mins later for apricots. I probably eat more calories way than in my main meal. I may ask my husband to hand me an apple. Or leave it out for me to dive on when I slump on return...after cool down stretches of course. ππ£
Enid looks to be very happy trying out all the options available out on the table in front of her!
I run before breakfast, so I snack before on half a banana and a glass of fresh orange. That keeps me fuelled for my run but I need a good breakfast when I get back. It's usually the rest of the banana, Greek yoghurt, granola and honey and perhaps a slice or two of toast if needed π.
Oh that sounds lovely. Porridge with rhubarb for breakfast or blueberries. I would like to get back to an early morning run. It is a 3 or 4 o'clock routine now as the household are still furloughed. I guess that's why the snack is most tempting too long after lunch and before dinner (or dinner and tea but that is for another post π€). ππ£π€Έπ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Originally from the Wirral (North west) but now I have been down south for so long and have a daughter that is a true southener I have to talk the way others down here would understand. ππ Slower!πππ»ββοΈ
I know what you mean . Our son got married last year & they live in Essex and when they visit , I m off at a hundred miles an hour . Our son is chipping in , but my poor daughter in law has this look about her as if I m speaking a totally different language to English - bless her ...... I have to slow down too π€£. Sometimes our son has to translate π³. He also goes back to Essex with a more of a welsh accent than he came home with - doesnβt take him long to re acclimatise . May take the boy out of wales etc etc π€£π€£π€£.
I know what you mean! I'm a Cheshire Girl and have never lost the habit of saying "tea-time" π which makes all my southern friends smile! I also get told off for speaking too quickly by my family!! It is definitely a Cheshire-Welsh thing π.
Well that's sorted then...it is afternoon tea that Enid is missing and now she can add a jam butty to her table. (The Wirral was in Cheshire when I was growing up then it became Merseyside and now the Wirral. So I think you are right.)ππ»ββοΈ
Oooh yum in my dreams...Enid would love that but it has to be a dairy free biscuit now. I used to take them apart and lick the cream. Gosh must stop thinking about it or I may fall off the wagon (wheel). πππ€Έπ»ββοΈπ£π
You are too kind to Enid, dijep, encouraging for her back habits.π I love the sound if your breakfast, dried fruits are so yum and walnuts are so good for us. I make porridge with water now and it is so creamy I can't think of doing it another way. Happy running and take care. ππ»ββοΈππ£
I used to be thin because I smacked and didnβt much bother with meals, then i started cooking things for Willow which were more my choice so I added in all my favourite things, now of course Iβm no longer thin and enjoy healthy meals and try to avoid too many snacks in between
My daughter gave me a tip, she decants things into smaller tubs, so a packet of crisps or handful of dried fruit and nuts is split in half, half for today and half for tomorrow a piece of cheese is weighed too, cheese is my downfall, I weighed a piece I was going to pop into my mouth once and nearly died on the spot.... my little piece of cheese to nibble while cooking was about 500 calories whoops
I know and i wonβt ever go back to smoking now and at least my weight has steadied
I had an oh dear moment at work that might make you laugh, we change our clothes when we get to work and one day i grabbed a lovely pair of cream trousers out the wardrobe to change into, they didnβt fit over half a stone ago so why i thought they would be ok no i donβt know as i lay on the toilet floor trying to get them done up lol it was my most uncomfortable day at work ever
Oh noooo π± who mentioned snacks... Enid π€, so now youβve mentioned it, chocolate of course, after dinner, cheese and biscuits late night supper snack, very naughty, crazy dreams, olives, yum, and apples π ...but they do go rather nicely with a chunk of cheese π€π€«π€
Ha ha yes naughty Enid not me honest. It does seem to be a general weakness for all but I know for sure I have so many lovely ideas for snacks reading these posts it is not going to get any easier. Enid and I are just going to have to plan our snacks for the week and get on running...ππ»ββοΈπ. Take care JorgeRuns, thanks for the support.
π€ at the time of day which you're running it would be an apple, or maybe a nice looking carrot for me. I love my dinner so always save the big feed for then and follow it up with a couple of dark choc mint thins for being good πππ»
Oooh I think you are right on the spot there. The Apple will be left on the table when I run next time and maybe I need to look at more interesting meals.
I run early and only drink water before I go. Shower then yummy porridge (no sugar) topped with banana, berries or dried cranberries. Love porridge π
Boiled egg and toast after my run in the early morning, plus granola. If I run at other times I'm afraid it's often cake! Good luck with the repeat plan - we can't all be saints with food all the time!
I am enjoying repeating the programme and surprised at the process of re building stamina again. It seems using an exercise bike does not replace 'real' running. ππ»ββοΈπ£ππ»ββοΈ
I do hope you're enjoying your sessions and I'm sure any fitness you may have lost will be back really soon. You were really determined to keep fit while your arm was injured!
Please enjoy the odd bit of what you fancy (and what Enid fancies)!π€
Hi Wenderwoo. ππ»ββοΈI think the fact that there is a biscuit emoji and not apricots says it all. I love them but cannot stop at 2. So I am going to make a snack pot for myself. 5 almonds 1 apricot etc and see if it satisfies the inner Enid. ππΌπ
