Sub 34 and things

Did a Wednesday 5k run on the Park course yesterday. The weather was cloudy and the humidity was around 90%. I had decided to do a new training scheme which was one easy minute and then increase the pace for a minute through out the 5k (if possible), so soft, hard repeat. I monitored my pace each minute using ear buds to the Garmin watch with a slow end stop of 7 minutes a kilometer. So off I went boy was it hot but I managed to do the increase and decrease of pace only once dropping to 7:12 kilometers a minute. The problem was that at 3 k I realised that I could do a sub 35 min 5k so The system went overboard and I just concentrated on not dropping my pace below 7. So at 73 years of age my 5k PB is 33mins 33 seconds. Looking back on the run it was a risk I probably should not have taken but I am now faster than I was at 72 again. My Garmin now tells me that my VO2 is now in the top 25% of my age and gender. By the way I am a type 2 diabetic with other health problems so well done c25k for getting me fit.

I’ve been really lazy and I don’t run as much as I should. I had a little run yesterday but I forced myself to go out. My motivation is on the floor 😢

Yes motivation can be a problem. I get round mine buy getting my running gear ready the night before and running early. In addition its good to run with someone else, so you let them down if you don't turn up. So get some Wazzy in your tazzy 😁👍
