Week 4 run 2- fail

I’ve been really enjoying running for the first time ever. After week 4 run 1 I felt amazing, it was difficult but I managed it.

I went out yesterday to do run 2 and was feeling good about it. The first 3 minute run felt fine then about halfway into the 5 minute run my legs just started aching to the point I had to stop at 4 minutes.

I managed about half of the next three minute run then couldn’t do it anymore and I walked home. My legs felt so sore and even the walk home was difficult.

Has anyone else felt the same? I’m not sure if I was just tired or if the wind was making it more difficult but I’m scared to try again now.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Enjoy your journey.
