I am at week 8 run 3 and was feeling very proud of my achievement as I turn 60 in June and have never been a runner though was a regular attendee at the gym doing spin, yoga, Pilates and body pump at least 4 times a week before lockdown. My problem is my lower left leg is giving me pain, the other week that calf was tight and I may, with hindsight, have over compensated . I soooooo want to complete the course but am unsure how long I should rest my injury I am doing yoga stretches and standing on stair tread several times a day to stretch it out plus walking my dogs. I have not run since Monday May 18th so 4 days of rest so far.
Any advice as how to proceed with a possible Achilles’ tendon damage issue would be much appreciated.
Happy running everyone, I was loving it!

Well this is more gratitude and less advice. I’ve had the same sort of pain. I overcompensated and the pain extended to my knees as well. I’ve been telling my doctors I have a pain in my knee and they’ve been recommending exercises to build my thigh muscles. You might have helped diagnose my problem. I’ll visit the doctor again and see if it heals. As for my recommendation, I suggest you see a doctor. I’ve been going through this pain for more than a year now. After resting for a while the pain recedes but it comes straight back soon as you run.
If I recover and get back up and running, I thank you in advance.
