First run done.

I’ve taken the opportunity to start the C25K as the streets are much quieter. I’m visually impaired (blind in one eye and no peripheral vision in the other) therefore I’ve always been worried about bumping into people! So I’m enjoying a little more space during this lockdown. I’ve started exercising over the last 9 wks but I haven’t run since school...30 years ago...and I was only good at short sprinting then.

Yesterday I completed my first run so I’m quite proud but I found it fairly tough even though I walk a lot and obviously it’s mainly walking! I hope I can stick with it. Glad to have this site in case I need a little motivation.

Well done you ! You’ve made a start, which is a big step and an even bigger one for you being visually impaired. It is hard when you start, but you’ll be surprised how your fitness gradually improves and the length of time you can jog increases. Stick with it and good luck with your journey 👍

Amazing achievement well done you. I also found the first week difficult and the Second haha but just take it a run at a time, repeat if you need to and don’t let a bad outing get you down... literally everybody has them xxx

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome lucialu, great that you have started and found your way to this amazing community. The programme is fantastic, tough at times but very achievable, even if you’ve not run for decades. Very good luck 🏃‍♀️
