So I am on w3r3 and because of the weather my usual running route is waterlogged. I have no choice but to run hills now. Any advice as I know my lungs will be wanting to explode.

Hills: even more important at this stage to go really really slowly and to keep your stride as short as possible. If it's a footpath, zig-zag across it to minimise the gradient.

As for burning lungs... even if going up hill (as long as it isn't *too* steep and you're not asthmatic) then at no point in the program should your lungs be burning - suggests you're going way too fast.

Use these 2 videos to help with your pace:

good luck!

Try to maintain cadence, but shorten stride. Keep arms pumping.

Steep hills are sometimes better tackled by doing short alternating diagonals, whether going uphill or downhill.

Downhill take care not to overstride, as you can transmit stresses equivalent up to seven times your body weight if you go too hard.

Hills will make you stronger.
