Wow hills are invigorating!

Seeing as I was running at a slower pace tonight due to running with a friend she suggested we do a route with a few more hills than I usually do so that I could do some hill sprints and then jog back to her.

What a workout that was and I feel like I used to before graduation when I did the first run of a week and made it to the end :)

I need to start heading out of my comfort routes as just around the corner it turns out we have HILLS and I want more of them!

When I first started my C25K journey I did a route with a hill that one day I ran around at the bottom of until it was time to walk as I found it so hard. My graduation run I planned so that I would run that hill twice and although I found it tough I loved the sense of achievement and more so loved the fact that I could get my breath back so quickly once I got to the top and my legs felt as though they had power in them to go again.

Tonight I realised that although I still have a LONG, LONG way to go I am getting stronger and my lungs are coping so much better with each week I stop smoking :)

Ooo well done for stopping smoking, the longer we all run the stronger our legs and lungs

hills really are an achievement and we don’t run much up hill and down hill hurts Willows knee but we do run slopes and they are easier

Yes I think if I had a knee problem it would be something I would avoid for sure and it isn't something I could do everytime I go out for a run so I am thankful it is pretty flat around here.

Pretty flat round here too apart from the south downs which we run on sometimes but mostly beach or park

Excellent Tiggs! I try sprinting up them and slow running down them. Plenty here in Canada 🤣

Hills do hurt at first, but they really work on making you stronger, faster! I had a big hill in my C25K journey from the start and it was so nice as it got easier and easier as I got fitter and stronger. These days I'm more than happy to tackle any hill, although I do prefer uphill to down, down can still be pretty tough on the knees. 👍🏻😁

Hills are your friends..............providing variety, extra little triumphs and improved stamina.

The view is always better from the top of the hill.......
