Calf strain?

Just did my thrid run of my thrid week and as I set off on my last 3 minute run I felt something go in my lower left calf I managed to finish run but now I'm home I can really feel it. Any ideas pls.

Sorry to hear of your setback. Sounds like a strain. I’ve torn my calf muscle once and the sensation is like being shot in the back of the leg. At the time I thought some kid had actually shot me with a pellet gun. I could hardly move. I’d just follow the usual RICE or whatever the latest guidance for strains/sprains and rest up until you feel it’s back to normal. Depending on how long you might need to go back a week and repeat.

I had exactly the same and found I had to rest for a couple of days and then repeated w3 and also w4. I think I wasn’t doing enough of the strengthening exercises and not hydrating regularly. However I have just this morning completed W7R3 and on a real high - legs held up well. Keep positive it’s a brilliant programme that has got me up to 25min runs from not running for probably last 40yrs. 👍 🌞 👏

Yes I'm 60 and haven't ran since my early 20s so maybe I should of expected something like this. Thank you.
