Hello, this is my first post on here.

With everything going on, I simply just cant stay inside which means I'll have to run on the roads and in public.

Any confidence tips?

With all this stuff going on, the last thing on anyone's mind is looking at and analysing some person running around. Nobody cares. Go out there and do your thing. I wear colourful basketball tops and I'm visible on Google maps like a moving target. So what! You're doing it for your own benefit. If you want put a cap on, wear some shades and play some music, that way you're 3/4 into your own universe. The last quarter is the actual run. Go for it.

No one will take any notice of you, how many people do you really take notice of when they are out running or walking, we all feel like that at the start but you’ll soon stop thinking about it when you’re actually running, if you’re anything like me you’ll be concentrating more on breathing and the scenery,

Just go for it, you’re doing this for you, nobody else matters when you’re running,

Good luck and enjoy it 💪👍

I’ve just completed my second run today, and you’ll be surprised how little people look at you. It’s often that they’re focusing on their own little world, and you’re focusing on getting in the zone.

Small things help like wearing something you’re comfortable in. For me it’s long sleeves! Maybe a hat or sunglasses?

Also try finding a route that might be quiet. When I start my run I try sticking to back streets round my house. After I feel a little more confident, I venture out onto busier roads.

A small benefit of the self-isolation rules is that it’s okay to cross the street when approaching someone too! That way you can avoid their gaze and their germs! Win win.

Just get out there and give it a go. I’m sure you’ll find a route and pace that works for you. Sometimes the first step is the hardest :)

Think of all the people you’ve seen running before you were a runner. What you saw was inspiration and awesomeness. When non-runners see you, most of them will see that in you, and runners will see a comrade! Enjoy it! 👏🏻

Hello all, thank you for your wonderful replies they have really helped! I'm about to go on my second run out now and apart from one person asking for directions. Everyone else thankfully left me alone!

Don’t worry about other people. I run round my local park. Before all this madness there was hardly anyone around but now it’s sometimes rammed. People are more interested in keeping their distance than what/how you look. It’s ok to feel a little lack of confidence. We’ve all been there. Just remember why you started and as each week passes you’ll become more confident. It’s a lovely feeling.
