In week 9 of the C25K, but..

All going well, although had a blow out yesterday on the homework run, got to around 20 mins in & had to walk a bit, but finished the 5K route. Disappointed with the effort yesterday, I went again today, completed the course but my left calf was killing me at the end (had trouble over the last few weeks)... Graduation on Thursday, I hope I will be OK..

Well done for getting all this way.👏👏👏

Don't put pressure on yourself to graduate if you're carrying an injury. Rest up, perhaps use a roller and do some strengthening exercises. Your graduation run will still be there and you'll feel all the better for it.

Good luck.

You probably shouldn't have tried again without a rest day. Those days are important for muscle recovery, repair and growth - or so the experts tell us!

Rest up, be sure you aren't carrying an injury, and take it slow and steady.

The only deadline for this is what you impose on yourself.

Turtle,

I think you do need to take rest days whether you finish the run or not. The rest days are for building and repairing muscles and without taking them you could set yourself up for injury :( If I were you I’d be taking two now and doing some stretches.

I ran w8r3 yesterday and found it really tough going. I’ve no idea how I completed it, didn’t know what was wrong until I looked at my run stats and found I was well above my normal pace! I hadn’t noticed, maybe the same thing happened to you on you previous run?

I understand where you are coming from, I was due to graduate on Friday, but a few things happened and I missed a run day so that put me back one day, now I have visitors coming in Saturday, so may not graduate until Sunday. Either way, I’ll do it. This running thing is a lifetime change for me so I can wait a couple of days for my badge :)
