I try and get my run early in the day so itโs done and dusted. Have some water and a little bit of fruit with yoghurt and run about 30 mins later. After my run I have some more water and may make an omelette or some bacon and eggs. Later on, I have a glass of red wine in a hot bath as a reward for the run!
Welcome to the forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes some basic advice on diet and nutrition, but what people eat before or after a run is very individual.........experiment.
Enjoy your journey.
Incho thanking you ,I will do ๐my very first run this week ,getting up my courage ๐น
I have a cup of herbal tea before my run then a bowl of Greek yoghurt, seeds, a couple of dried apricots, granola and warm honey after. Yum ๐
I always run first thing in the morning so I guess this affects what I eat.
To perfectly honest, at this stage, *what* you eat and drink is far less important than *WHEN* you eat & drink.
You want to be reasonably hydrated - but that can mean either your normal tea or coffee, a glass or water or juice. Food? Whatever you normal have for breakfast/lunch/dinner etc.
BUT... try not to eat and drink in the hour before you go out. That's all. Doesn't need to be more complicated than that.
Hi wolseyjohn, welcome to the gang and welcome to the adventure that is C25K. I get up an hour early on my running days, it's the only way I can fit it in. So, all I do is get up, brush my teeth, go to the toilet (sorry!) put on my running clobber have a drink of water & go. Afterwards I do a few stretches, cool & calm down before washing and re-dressing and starting my normal day with my normal breakfast cereal & then off to work. I do then also try and make sure I hydrate myself well during the day afterwards (and if poffible, the day before). We are all different, and all have different routines, but that's what works for me.
