Welcome aboard!

No, it doesn't sound like cramp.

Firstly, have you read the guide to the programme?

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You may have been pushing a little hard.

Also, how is your hydration? You're asking your muscles to do more and muscles require oxygen and fluids (lots) to work well otherwise the tighten up just like you're feeling. Try to increase your daily hydration to at least 2l a day. What you drink the day before a run is what your muscles are working with on run day.

What you can do now is massage your own calves, try you tube for videos, it will feel sore at first but will help πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Š

Look up dynamic calf stretching - done before a run . These exercises helped me with that problem . Also static stretching after your run :-)

Well done for getting to the end of the second week. I've re-started and ran W2 R2 yesterday morning and for the first time ever I noticed that my calves were aching as I got towards the end. I just put this down to maybe a slightly different running style in the slippery/icy conditions. I stretched my calves (as well as my hamstrings) once I got home and am pleased to report no problems today. maybe this is what you need to try?

Are you doing the warm up/cool down exercises? They make a big difference imo - links are in the How to post 😁
