W3 completed finally after illness prior to Christmas, feeling great and on dry January!
Does anyone else find they are a tad too far away from home when the run ends? I’m such a muppet, but luckily feel good so run another 5 minutes or so home 🤣

There’s a bell at the halfway point..... just turn around and head back when you hear it.
My routes are all roughly around my house so I can slightly adjust the length, adding a small loop along another street on the way home if I am not yet on the cool down walk. Used the OS maps to check alternative route distances before I go mad too!
If you want to work out a circular route, you'll need to know what distance you'll be running and walking on any given week, once you know that you could use something like
Then you'll be sorted
I think Strava might also have routing capabilities but I've not used them.
I have a favourite circular route I've been using since run 1. I didn't plan it, and I didn't read any advice (🙄) but it turned out to be almost exactly 5k. To start off with I used to walk the rest of the way home. As I got fitter, I sometimes added a sneaky extra run period. Now I just run the lot.
I do other routes too now, but it's good to have that one as a benchmark.
Oh I've just laughed out loud.
This was my post from week 3

Welcome to the too far away from home club. There are plenty of us in it!
After this, I just stuck to going in one direction until the half way point and then turned round and went back.
Not very exciting, but it worked for me.
Good luck with your planning!

Some apps have routes which other runners have plotted. That might help?
I guess you’ll get used to the distance you are likely to travel in the time.
I’m trying to find well lit areas that fit with all that, too.
Good luck heading out there!
