Hi

Merry Christmas

I'm sure below must be a glitch but wanted to ask.

Below are my splits on the same 5k run. It shows pace and Duration. Surley these should be the same?

It shows the first mile was my quickest pace but my slowest mile??

Am I missing something?

Thanks

First of all I hope you are having a lovely Christmas, the pace is the speed you are running, the duration is the time it takes, for example, my time/duration at parkrun last Saturday was just over 32 minutes, my pace, the speed I was running was 6.24/km.

Hi

I hope you are to.

I think I get that however.

If you look at just one mile if the duration is 8 minutes to complete the first mile surely the pace is also a 8 minute mile.?

Not too sure about that James, I have a metronome app, even at say I set it a 168 beats/steps a minute I can vary my pace, it's all to do with stride, larger steps can speed things up, if you take smaller strides you could still be the same number of steps a minute, I think that is why there is that difference that you are talking about, perhaps some expert will be able to explain to you exactly why that is different, stride is very important in running.

What app are you using to measure your runs?

I can't understand why the duration of 1 mile does not match the pace over that same mile.

The 34 second difference on the first mile is significant, whereas the others are both under ten seconds per mile...........mind you those ten seconds are hard won and I am sure you would like to know which is correct.

Can you find out how your device/app measures both duration and pace to see if that gives some clues.

By the standards of this forum, those are pretty pacey mile times.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I use a samsung watch active that syncs to Samsung Health. I know the total time is correct just odd splits.

Havnt noticed it before and am on my 110th 5k this year. Crazy year. First 5k was 37 min one year ago aiming for sub 20 in 2020
