Having bought a garmin I now get to see in glorious detail my HR. I used to not put hands on HR part of equipment in gym because it flashed warning. I'm fit and health BMI 21 do loads activity. My runs are always in zone 5 but I'll happily say hello to all passers by and dont feel exhausted after run. During day HR fluctuates all over depending on what I'm doing resting HR 65. Recovery from high HR pretty quick. Am I right in thinking as I've lived at this high pace for all my life I just stop worrying about it. I do everything at 110% as does my 89 year old father who still acts like he is 18.

Resting heart rates looks like it reflects your great health!!
Running HR just freaks me out though 😉
If it’s showing zone 5 and you’re not struggling for breath then there’s a couple of things worth checking. Is the maximum heart rate set appropriately for you, not at the default 220-age? The second thing to be aware of is that running watches can lock onto your cadence and that can be very misleading. Mine once told me my HR was 169. If my HR was that high at my age I’d be collapsing!
Don’t worry too much about HR data. Normal resting heart rate is usually around 80 bpm. So your resting is good. I’d never train in HR zones. If I feel like doing an easy run I’ll do an easy run and if I do interval training I just run them at my target pace for each interval. Unless it’s a medical grade ECG system the information is just a rough estimate of your heart rate data. Fast recovery is a great indication of good heart health so don’t worry too much about it. At the end of the day it matters not how fancy a running watch is. All you need is pace and distance information.

It's great when you get a new fitness watch and you get to see all the stats and graphs etc. I seem to be in zone 5 a lot of the time but feel great. Don't think you need to be bothered at all. You find new things all the time I just found a vo2 max graph on garmin connect app even more data to look at 😂
Your heart rate will change during the day depending on what you are doing. My resting heart rate changes slightly from week to week, but is 55 today! 😀
