You've downloaded the app that's your starting point. Just go slow and slower again if needed no need to rush. Make sure you're drinking plenty water, 2-3 litres per day and not just on run days.

C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact and stretching after every run as well as many other topics.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome.

I think 99% of people have bad experience when it comes to running at school... unless you happened to be great at it straight away it tended (still does sadly) to be once or twice a year and the dreaded “cross country” that we were somehow expected to be able to run... C25K will enable you to run that course, and you’ll be able to go on to much more.

The bad for the joints thing was medical thinking a couple of decades ago, and like all former medical facts, it has tended to linger... current medical fact says the opposite, the impacts from running actually cause joints to strengthen, so long as we run the right way, which is covered in the link IannodaTruffe posted above.

All your other training will help a lot, they’re gonna be great cross training for the running. You’ll be ready for that charity run.

You can do this, enjoy your journey.

Choose a foot and step it forward, do same with next foot, repeat. It's as simple as that once you've decided to start. You are a star for choosing this programme and you will get loads of support and advice. Take it slow, slow is good, and drink loads. You are against only yourself so there's only you to please 😀

Did it, got medal even though i was last on my Charity run! Some people ran, some walked. i didn't want to keep up with runners as they were experienced. i wanted to go at my own pace but lost them so i got lost but i ran, jogged, slipped in mud (gotta laugh), walked uphill in total for 78min according to my app! it was horrid, drizzly and loads of puddles but i finished! i suppose if they had markers i wouldn't have got lost, no matter. I am still a novice so jog/walk/run :) ran along canal in Marple. views were lovely! i am now back to my app on week 4 :))))
