Osteoporosis strategies

I’m starting jogging to help manage my bone density after being diagnosed with osteoporosis in my spine -2.5. I have been doing the elliptical for 12 months but apparently that not enough weight bearing exercise. I’m hoping to avoid pharmaceutical intervention. Started couch to 5k today and very excited.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Running, because of the impact, is one of the best ways known to maintain bone density. However, that impact is also the cause of a vast proportion of injuries that new runners suffer, so, especially in your case, make sure that you follow all the advice in the guide on minimising impact.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks Iannoda. I’m seeing a physio next week so I’ll be very conscious about preventing injury.
