Can anyone explain why my Fitbit and MyFitnessPal differ on the same distance please?

I had 2 app running at the same time and they never matched up haven't a clue why. Just go with one and stick with it . 😊😊

The Fitbit is a step counting device. It calculates your distance ran from your step counts depending on gender, height etc. Whereas some other apps on your phone will calculate the distance from GPS or similar. I use a Garmin GPS watch which is very accurate. There is always a huge difference between the information on a GPS watch and a standard Fitbit after a 5K parkrun. GPS watches are far more accurate whereas the Fitbit can either over estimate or under estimate the distance ran by as much as 500-800 meters.

No clue why apps can differ. Your Fitbit could be using the phone’s GPS too.

I have the opposite to @damienair at my local parkrun my app (Nike run club) is dead on balls accurate (it’s an industry term 🤣) measuring 3.11 or 3.10 miles, my Garmin measures it at 2.85... and the course has been measured accurately.
