I did the plan from the bridge to 10k forum too, quite a few of us have done it
well worth checking it out
but please before you do, take 2 or 3 weeks to consolidate your 30 minute running and give your body a rest from the push push push. just repeat week 9 2 or 3 times, you can mix it up a bit too, but do take the time, it's worth it
Thank you! Just read one of the pinned post which said just that. Take 3 weeks or so before moving on. Makes sense really as although I can run for 28/30 mins I’m not doing 5k yet!
Exactly as above... the ju-ju- plan is excellent and you can use a tracking app to update you on time and distance as you go... if you miss the coaching there are guided runs out there that are compatible with any plan. Enjoy closing this out, take some consolidation time and then we shall see you on that road to 10k.
Well done for making it all the way to week 9. You should be very proud! You’ve only got to run for an extra 2 minutes now... it’s within reach, you can do it!!!
I also want to echo what the others have said. JuJu’s plan is excellent, I’ve done it, for me that’s the one to go for. No app, but who needs an app when you have this forum? 😉
What I would say is please give serious thought to consolidating your work so far before trying to push further. There are some really good podcasts to try and help you here: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c...
When you’re comfortable doing 5ks, I would say go for it with JuJu’s plan.
Oh and one more thing, if you’re not reaching 5k in 30 minutes, which virtually no-one does, don’t push your pace, you’ll probably end up injuring yourself. Keep running for a little longer until you get to be able to run 5k with out dying
Yes I was thinking about that. Think I’m only covering about 3.5k in 28 mins so I know I’ll not do 5k just yet. Think I’ll work on that over the consolidation weeks. 🤞🏼 ☺️
For what it’s worth, it took me over a year to do a sub 30 5k. I found the way to improve pace was doing a fixed distance quite frequently, but I think different people find different things helpful. For comparison I was covering about 4K in 30 minutes I think when I graduated. Bear in mind also, trying to work on pace and distance at the same time probably won’t work!! Best advice though? Enjoy it, you’ll get on so much better if you enjoy your running
