Just completed w6 r3 today and have been a pair of cheap old trainers I had but I’ve started to get blisters. Does this mean it’s time to get a pair of running shoes?

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, yes, buy a decent pair of running shoes, you won't get blisters with them, get a gait analysis, buy the recommended shoes and socks to match. 😊 🏃

I run in an old pair of trainers, was thinking about some posh shoes but as all is going well I don’t want to change anything. I did however buy some 1000 Mile running socks which are brilliant for stopping blisters and about ten quid so might be worth try those first - although if you’ve w6r3 you do deserve a present!

Yes, if you are running for 25 minutes non stop, you definitely deserve some running shoes! And maybe some padded running socks (Karrimor ones are great and 2 pairs for about £8 on amazon) for preventing blisters.

I bought new shoes last week for exactly the same reason - I got to week 6 with cheap ones that rubbed my heels raw. Advice on here was to get gait analysis done, so I did and bought some (quite expensive) new shoes. They have really made a difference - I've just done week 7 run 1 and the shoes are really comfortable. Treat yourself if you can afford to - sounds like you deserve it.
