I think something good must be happening. Just got to end of week 4 and my Withings watch is now logging my shuffles as runs! (I’m actually jogging really slowly) I feel rather ridiculous, but at least I now think I’m doing a joffle. Better than a shuggle?

Slow is the way!!! I run using this Japanese slow jogging technique & absolutely love it! Not sure if I could have progressed as quickly without it. And I can now run for over an hour running this way - that would *not* be happening without it!

I watched this and it does make sense. BUT...it looks bonkers doesn’t it?
It does a bit, but I don’t care! I’ve been reading the book about this (and will do a post on it), but a key part of this is even if you’re trying to increase your pace, you do most of your training slowly to build strength and stamina, and avoiding strain & injury. Also I wasn’t enjoying the running when it was a hard slog, now I love it and can run & run. Might look a bit of a wally, especially as this running style is called nico nico (smile in Japanese) and I do run along smiling away! But you get all the benefits of running without the pain. I’ve lost 5 inches from my waist!
This guy and Disco know what they're talking about, I saw a running coach in the US teaching his students this very technique. If you watch his feet, he actually has a perfect cadence, about 90, and his foot strike is perfect. This all prevents injury. Basically Mo Farah is doing exactly the same but with longer strides.

My turn around point was week 4 too! X
