Speed vs stamina

Hello, this in my second time doing c25k. I graduated last year then stopped running. I am now about to start week 8 second time round. Thing is I am slow... I am running at 9.42km/min.

I know the idea is to complete and I do feel better this time round compared to last year, no faster though. My question is will I get faster eventually... I plan to start bridge to 10k (or juju's programme) once I complete wk 9 to give myself a new goal and keep going.

Any advice welcome as feeling a bit flat!

Do you mean you take 9mins 42secs per km ? This is not an exclamation of surprise, I run slowly lol, I'm just not sure what you mean when you say 9.42km/min.

If it is 9min42 secs per km, yes you can absolutely do bridge to 10k, it will just take you a bit longer timewise to get to 10k but it is totally doable.

I am gradually getting faster as i get more used to running (5 weeks past graduation), but I still channel my inner snail : )

Lol, yes I did mean 9min 42 sec to run a km (not 9 km in a min.. Superfast).

Speed and stamina are very much related. If you follow Bridge to 10k then the extra stamina should make you faster over 5k or run further in 30 minutes. We need to build that fuel tank before we can burn the fuel it contains... so don’t worry about pace and keep progressing nicely.

My speed is about the same as yours, if not slower! I have started Ju-Ju’s plan (the time, not distance version). I’m loving it so far, and I really think I will manage to increase my speed over 5K by working on that in the short runs, and build stamina on the longer ones. I’m trying really hard not to worry about speed though, and enjoy the benefits of longer workouts!

Thanks, good to know someone running similar speed is doing the next step successfully. Starting to look foreqed to it now 😊
