Week 8 Lows and Highs

My running group normally runs a Monday, but both jog leaders were unavailable this week and it was changed to Wednesday.

So, determined to keep up the Monday runs (I’ll come back to that!), I decided to run at lunchtime in a park near work before heading home for the afternoon. I had changed at work, dropped my stuff in the car and headed to the park. I was running well until around 15 mins in when my stomach started playing up, thought I could run through it but at 20 minutes had to make a mad dash for the bushes! Absolutely mortified and extremely grateful that there wasn’t anyone around. I had heard of runners trots before but OMG! Sorry, if that’s too much info😳 I ran/walked back to the car as quickly as I could, so obviously failed my week 8 run 1.

Wednesday, got a message from our jogleader to say she was ill and was cancelling the organised run. To be honest I was terrified about going back out incase the RTs struck again so was relieved about not having to go back out. However, this is my 6th attempt at C25K, I don’t want to give up this time and I’ve signed up for a 10k in September, so I waited 3 hours after eating and headed out. I think I worried more about that than I did about running for 28 mins, so am absolutely delighted to say that I managed the full 28mins with no pit stops 😳. My tummy wasn’t great but I did it. I also did 5k within the 38 minutes of the podcast!

It’s now Friday morning and I’m sitting patiently waiting for 3 hours after eating to get back out today, still a bit scared but I am going to finish this time and get my badge, wish me luck 🤞

Update. Run 3 smashed 😃 after 4 hours of procrastinating.

I have a rule now, I don't run until I have had a poo! Nearly had a similar incident recently but managed to make it back to the toilet in time, just! Well done for not being put off, hope the rest of Week 8 is plain sailing for you. ☺

Hopefully it was just a one off and won't happen again, glad the bushes were there for you . Hope you enjoy your run today 😊😊

Great running... as for the tummy issues, these things happen from time to time, and there’s nothing that we can do about it. It’s almost victory lap time... enjoy closing this out and there’s plenty of time to be 10k ready.

I'm like debs, luckily i run first thing in the morning and my bowels usually cooperate first thing lol. I walk the dogs first and see if anything else needs, errr, "doing" before heading down for my run. I did have to stop for a pee break this week though but I was even joghing while I was undressing...only stopped for 30s lol
