I think this might be an age thing...approaching 63 years young ๐Ÿ™Œ but the days I donโ€™t run I have aches, the days I run I feel wonderful afterwards. Is it just me ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

Is it a chicken and egg thing? I mean, are the runs causing the aches the day after (you know that day after sport ache thing) or are the runs chasing away the stiffness that you would have if you didn't get your body moving?

I think the runs are chasing away the stiffness as I had aches before I started running. Itโ€™s not bad. TBH I think a lot of this is stress related and tension.

67yr old here ๐Ÿ˜Š. Drink lots before you run and then do loads of stretches afterwards, try investing in a foam roller and using that. The further in the plan you get the more your muscles will develop and they wonโ€™t hurt as much. You could also try dynamic stretching before you start to get your body ready for your run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tonkabella, I drink loads and stretch afterwards. I think itโ€™s general aches and pains, not just muscles, joint pain aswell. I do Yoga aswell.

I am with you on the general aches and pains ๐Ÿ˜ซ. I have bad knees which never seem to stop aching to some degree or another, however since going back to running the intensity seems to be a little less. I thought you meant muscle aches. Sounds like your doing all the right things and itโ€™s just a case of managing it. Happy running ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I know your aches and pains I am 65 and your body does take its toll...Please be careful this sounds similar to myself and I am now off running for a week as I thought the aches and pains were just my body adjusting...pushed it too far and then pulled a muscle it is a nightmare at the moment...so be wise about the signs and you will be fine.

Thank you nif100 but I have been like this well before running. Itโ€™s only mild and I think itโ€™s stress related but interesting that after the run I have no aches or pains until the next morning when I start being a bit stiff.

Ok just thought I would let you know. I used to run years ago and never had any problems but being now 30yrs older I ignoring the aches and pains I then ended up with where I am right now but I will get there and back out there but will respect and take note of my body from now on and not ignore the warning signs... glad yours are only mildx

We are all different, but I am the same age as you and generally when I run I don't ache afterwards. I am on the IC at present.

Stretching straight after every run, as described in the guide to the plan, can make a huge difference.

I donโ€™t ache afterwards Iโ€™m actually euphoric ๐Ÿ˜‚ itโ€™s usually the middle of the next day and depends on what Iโ€™m doing. If Iโ€™m working then itโ€™s not so bad - I just think itโ€™s general wear and tear ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
