Morning. I've heard a lot about fitbits. Should I get one?

Personally, I’m going with a Garmin Forerunner and I don’t need to go to the really expensive ones. The forerunner 30 and 35 are both under £100. I’m going with Garmin as they are the best name in GPS receivers (I’ve owned a few of their hiking models) and also I want something that has been designed with running as the priority.

I love mine (charge 2 - there are bargains to be had at this time as they are phasing the charge 2 out). I had charge 1 with lots of issues BUT fitbit were excellent in providing replacement quickly and without a fuss. Just be careful where you buy and save your receipt. 2 years warranty in Europe.

Depends what you want to achieve. It you want a fitness tracker that will count steps during the day, then get a fitness tracker (and fitbit are the market leader). Some of the more recent fitbits are a fitness tracker and running watch combined, but rely on your phone for gps. I think that the Ionic is the only fitbit with 'built-in' gps.

If you want a running watch with inbuilt gps, then many of us on this forum have Garmin ForeRunner running watches. The advantage of in-built gps is that you are not reliant on your phone for the gps data, and this means that your watch can display distance, pace, speed accurately even if you went out running without your phone. All recent Garmin running watches have step counting, heart-rate monitoring functions like the fitbits.
