Hi, you would need to calibrate your Fitbit for treadmill running.

This may help .

Welcome to the forum.

We don't encourage comparison as it is essentially meaningless...........unless you compare yourself to somebody with exactly the same body, lifestyle and motivation as you.

As for the readings, as far as I know, most Fitbits use stride length to calculate your distance when running on a treadmill, so if that is not calibrated accurately, then results can vary wildly from reality.

I'd always go by the treadmill. Always!

I have a dedicated running watch, a Garmin and even it's Indoor Run (treadmill) function over estimates my distance and pace by 25% compared to the treadmill distance. And knowing my current outdoor pace I know that the treadmill is more accurate.

thanks John stick to tredmill then unless i am running outside hopefully the gps will correct it and give a more better result 👍

The treadmill is telling you how far the belt has travelled , your cadence may be different to that hence the difference as your fit bit is counting the steps you take and using info on your stride length to determine the distance travelled. Worth noting that you probably change your stride length on a treadmill compared to outdoors too - depending on whether you have the gradient set or not. so the true answer is probably somewhere in between the two, the best thing to do is pick one and stick with it as that way you can check your own progress over time.

I had the same problem (different treadmill) until I calibrated my Fitbit to my stride length which has essentially solved the problem. The mill and the Fitbit aren't totally in sync, but it's not far off.
