so I began using the app last year for a few weeks and it was great but eventually I ran out of motivation and stopped. recently my school decided to plan a 5k run in 10 weeks time to raise money for mental health support and new sports equipment. Of course I really want to do this, but considering I can hardly run 400m without getting out of breath, will I be able to do a 5k run in only 10 weeks time, even if I follow the programme?
how well does it all work?: so I began using the... - Couch to 5K
how well does it all work?
I started C25K, having never run more than 500m before, at New Year and did a 5k Resolution run at the end of February, which was only eight weeks. Having a target (and having signed up and paid my entry fee) really helped me to do every run in the programme and complete three runs a week. The Resolution run itself was very tough as I still can't really run more than 4k in one go, but with a bit of walking uphill I did it and raised £690 for the Stroke Association.
For me the problem with running with other people is pace - I tend to set off much too fast! Just remember that any running is better than no running, and if you go very slow or walk it really doesn't matter.
The only other thing I would say is that you'll be running in summer, so go for early mornings, evenings or cloudy days to prevent overheating and dehydration, and drink much more water than you think you'll need.
Go for it! What's the worst that can happen?
Do you want to be able to run for thirty minutes? In two months?
It’s for a good cause. You might find you have a tighter tum, breathe easier, sleep better and feel more confident too. Quite apart from the money raised. The plan works - if you do. Start now, take it slowly, and read Iannoda Truffes FAQ posts before you start. Watch Japanese Slow Running Man on YouTube too. Think you can do what he does? Then yes you can do it. Welcome back. Mid March I started, W9R3 on Saturday. Yes you can!
Welcome to the forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
The plan gets you running for thirty minutes after 9 weeks, but that is not necessarily 5k.........it depends on the level of fitness you bring to the first week.
Enjoy your journey.
Omg yes you will x I had never run before and at 48 and overweight I graduated last month and love it x
