W1R2 Shinsplints!!

Hello. Second run today (albeit begrudgingly) and the shinsplints were pretty poor. Any one got any remedies/tips about this. Ran in new trainers as well today which has probably exacerbated things a bit. Cheers

It is unlikely to be shin splints at this early stage.. try breaking your trainers in too by wearing them around the house.

Keep the runs slow and steady..and try to land gently..I call it kissing the ground with your feet!

Try a slightly longer warm up walk and do your post run stretches too.

Stamina and strength work on some rest days will help strengthen those muscles too..

Thanks for the advice. I’ve had shinsplints for years unfortunately. They were very sore today though.

I’ll check the video out as well though.

I was suffering with shin splints but foam rolling, stretching, ice and compression was a godsend (and still is as it’s now part of my post run routine) and I don’t get them now.
