App not working when phone locked

I started today, first brisk walk to get me going with half the runs accomplished (I am extremely unfit so need to ease into this so I don't break something!)

However, I had my phone strapped to my arm and set the app off so the lovely Sarah Millican could keep me going, had Spotify running in the background and I set off. Once the phone locked tho I only had Spotify. The C25K app didn't kick in.

Any ideas please how I can fix it? My first run out didn't register on the app 😭

Turn off auto lock? Well done getting out there and taking the first steps along your journey. Enjoy the next one. To mark a run as complete after a glitch just start it again and hit ⏩ a few times.
