Needing some week 7 support...

Hey all :)

So I’m on the third run of week seven. After run two I had really bad calf and shin pain in one leg, so I left it 5 days before I tried again so make sure I didn’t injure it. It was going ok, although I felt exhausted from the start, but after 20 minutes I had an incredibly sharp pain in my stomach, worse than the usual stitch - it almost felt acidic - and I carried on for another minute but had to stop as it was getting worse. It’s the first time I’ve ever had to stop and it’s disheartened me a little!

I only have one flat running area available and I’m bored of it! I’ve run up and down the cul-de-sacs a few too many times. but I think starting new, slightly uphill routes on week 7 whilst didn’t work well.

Now it’s been over a week since my last successful run and I just feel demotivated and like I could not bother to go again!! Any tips for bringing fresh life into boring routes? I won’t be in this area much longer, but don’t want to lose the fitness I’ve built...

Could you drive somewhere and run from your car and back again for a change of scenery?

Hey Contentlycon, we won't let you give up, you've come to far. We all suffer setbacks on the way, it comes with the territory but look how far you've come. I found week 7 tough but haven't looked back since then. One reason is I think the cumulative effect of running 75 minutes a week without a walk break, it takes time for your body to get used to that. Do you listen to music? I find that really helps. Of you feel physically fit now then try again. Run as slowly as you can, with a smile on your face. Think of the long term benefits and how many of your mates can't run for 1 minute let alone 25! Go for it, you have our support

Could you possibly walk or drive to a new area to run as doing the same route over and over may be boring good luck 😊

I feel exactly the same, I did my first run of week 7 and I don’t feel any fitter, my feet are full of blisters and hurting me, and I’m bored and ready to quit. When my feet have healed I’m going to try one more time but I’m going to drive to the castle and try running around there to see if a change of location will help. We need to stick at it we have come this far. I listen to music but a few people have said listen to podcasts or an audiobook. Good luck with we your running you have done amazing to get this far 💪🏼 x

Thanks so much everyone ❤️ sometimes you just need some kind words!! I can’t drive but perhaps will try and get the bus somewhere. And maybe try an audiobook

Update: I did it!! It was kind of gruelling and I got the horrible new kind of stitch and nearly stopped but didn’t stop - just slowed down to an absurdly slow pace and breathed through it. I think id just got ahead of myself and was trying to go too fast, or just don’t have as much energy at the moment. All your comments really helped and I did exactly as you said so Thankyou it worked @steviej99
