I graduated C25K last year. So pleased and proud of myself.
However I've found numerous reasons not to run at all this year. I've piled on the pounds, weather's awful, won't run in the dark etc etc. I just can not get back into the new me who had self belief and energy and inspiration.
I know what I need to do but I just need you all to kick my backside!!
I'm sure there's many out there who've felt the same. I'm scared of having to start again.
Appreciate you listening.

Getcha ass into gear and get out. The only thing that’s stopping you is you and you alone. The weather looks like it’s changed for a while so go on and take advantage.
Many graduates have problems with maintaining the habit after completing the C25K training plan, which is why the monthly Consolidation Club exists healthunlocked.com/couchto5....... where you can get advice and see what others are doing.
You only get the health benefits of running, both physical and mental, by continuing to run.
USE IT OR LOSE IT.
Why be scared of starting again? I have nearly eight years of running experience, but restarted C25K from scratch recently to rebuild my resistance to impact and injury after chemotherapy. It is not scary, but uplifting.
Don't take your health for granted......... get out there.
The slow jogging has been a revelation to me. I had no idea it was a thing! It made me giggle big time initially but it works so well. Its helped so much to get me moving again. Thank you for introducing it to me.
Do it for you ! - draw a line under the past few weeks and get out there again. I find it’s best not to consider whether or not I feel like a run but just to do it as a habit. I’m often not so keen or fairly neutral about heading out but always happy when I’m finished and knowing that keeps me going.
I will be starting over too. Graduated in the last quarter of last year and then ran into problems during consolidation and the colder weather with my breathing (as in getting really winded and unable to slow down my breathing).
Tentative diagnosis of Exercise Induced Bronchospasm. Cannot be fully diagnosed because of covid-19 restrictions and until respiratory nurse can do spirometry testing in the surgery!
Now on steroid inhalers and rescue inhaler and am going to start C25K from scratch again as an "experiment".
Good luck, ploddery ! You can do this...you will.....you know how to do it!
Hey Spongecat, sorry to hear about your situation. It's great that you are positive. I am sure you will have success with your experiment. Thanks to all for the support,...I've started running again with a complete new mindset. I just started with a superslow jog for as long as I wanted and soon got myself back to 30mins at a fairly good pace.
Thankyou yes good idea... Its nice to have something new... Treated myself to some sweaty Betty's... Any excuse 😜. Good thing is... Its worked. I'm now getting sweaty again because I m running and not because I'm sat on the radiator.!!
It worked.. Thank you for the advice and shake. Started with a superslow jog and now I'm back doing a good paced 4 or 5 km. My fear is a fear of failing.... I'm in a positive mindset now. Happy days.
Just remember what the reason was for you doing C25K last year, grab hold of that thought and just get out there running again. If you are daunted by running again, just pick a C25K week to start from again and head out. Even if you feel you have to start at week 1 again, just do it because at least this time you know you can do it !
Thanks Ant50....im inspired by you and the others. you are right, jogging makes for healthy mind as well as healthy body. I'm shifting that Christmas ballast and enjoying moving again.
I finished this programme last October and like you found every excuse under the book not to continue running. And I also piled on the pounds and absolutely felt rubbish but the pulled on my runners last week and am on track to finish week 2 this evening.
The support here is essential to me achieving my goal of completing this again before the summer. Bring on the sunshine and a gentle run in the country.
Go for it ploddery!!!! I will be watching for your posts about getting out there.
Hi, kind of you to support me and watch for my posts. I've not put much on here before and have taken inspiration from reading posts from others, however, the support for me has been just what I needed so I think I will be a bit more present here from now on.
It really helps to know that others have glitches too and its useful to hear how they overcome it.
It sounds as if you have the weight gain/feeling rubbish/sat on backside/weight gain..... kind of cycle that I get. Its breaking that chain isnt it? Sounds like we are both doing just that...well done us
I live for the slow jogging thing lol. The start of my run is uphill so the slow jog is essential.
Off to do my W3r2 this evening. The sun is just dipping behind the hedges now so it’ll be a cool run but I love it. Ollie will keep me pounding out the strides 🐾🐾 hahahahaha
