Can't believe that I have just run on tarmac for 25 minutes for the first time in more than 30 years! Have been doing C25K in the gym at home but spending a few days in Suffolk means running outdoors. Finishing up week 7 after 3 days off owing to a dodgy knee. Found the outdoor run a killer to begin with, perhaps because of the break - but I did it! Since last September when I turned 64 I have lost 28lbs and started this programme. My friends don't recognise me. I have never been so pleased with myself! I so appreciate the support of this forum.
From Treadmill to Tarmac!: Can't believe that I... - Couch to 5K
From Treadmill to Tarmac!
Well done! I just did my very first C25K in the local park - it was hard but I’m feeling amazing!
Brilliant, well done On_the_Run. Running outside is harder until you adjust so youve done great. This plan is amazing isnt it. I started c25K on my 62nd bday last September and graduated in January. Cant believe now I'm running three times a week, feel great and my aches and pains have disappeared. Keep up the great work - only 6 runs to graduation!
You guys are giving me great encouragement! I turned 60 last year and was worried I was too old! Just completed day 1 of week 7 , I feel so proud! I like running outside in local woods, scenery so beautiful! 😉
Great stuff Spinney1 - I've just moved on to the bridge to 10k plan and can't believe it myself. Keep up the good work and enjoy your running!
Thanks to both of you for taking time to offer encouragement. This is a real life changer at our age, eh? I truly did not believe that it could be done but it was thanks to the example of a friend that I gave it a go. Don't know about you but getting fitter has also resulted in feeling back in control of my life and given me the self confidence to tackle other areas that need shaping up! Good luck to you along the way.
