Am I right in thinking that on the rest days when your legs are aching a little bit but not enough to think, groan my legs are aching that it’s because your legs are healing? 🦵

More than likely.

Keep moving and you are less likely to notice it.

Not sure of the physiology but yes rest days are for healing and yes aches and twinges such as you describe are normal for beginning runners. Actual pain is different if course, you don’t run with proper pain as that’s a warning from your body. But the wee bits of aches and stiffness etc are normal.

Probably. Quite a lot of interesting things are happening on rest days - which could be called non running days as other types of exercise are fine. Your body is repairing the micro tears, which is muscle building, new bone cells are made, our bones get denser, and more blood capillaries are made to get oxygen to your muscles more efficiently. All blooming marvellous.
