I had a car accident last month (somebody drove into the back of my car at speed) leaving me with a back injury.
Things could have been a lot worse physically and the physio says I should be able to run in a few weeks, but not exercising is really getting me down: i'm not sleeping (back pain and anxiety over the accident don't help) and I am missing the endorphin rush I get when doing a long run.
Has anyone else had back problems and how easy was it to return to running? Is there any kind of program for getting back into it?

Definitely a call for an expert to make. I had a fractured T4 vertebrae in November 2017. It was really painful and I struggled to get up from sitting or lying down and it really hurt to sit down or lay down in the first place! I was properly up and about by the time the Beast from the East disappeared .... but I imagine that it really does depend on the severity and location of the injury.
