Repeated chest infections

Hi all

Been quiet since I graduated back in December. Seem to have had one chest infection or cold after another. Barely managed 10 runs since the new year I have felt so rubbish.

Thought I had cracked it and did a 25 minute run on Thursday and averaged less than 7 mins a km which was amazing. However woke up with another cough on Friday and all I want to do is sleep.

Hoping this will get better soon and I can start building up my runs again.

I had planned to be doing the bridge to 10km but I would be happy to be able to do 5km right now x.

Is it worth just starting the 1-9 even though you are poorly and just stay at the week you feel okay at till you are better . Good luck

Totally relate, I’ve managed a few more but I’ve been plagued a bit by illness these last three weeks. You won’t have lost much fitness if you just get out when you’re well enough to, and hopefully with spring on the way the lurgy season will be behind us soon. You sound like you’re into this for the long haul - so we’ll get our mojos back soon! Hope you’re on the mend soon.

I know it’s hard but you really mustn’t run at all if you have a chest infection. Wait until you are 100% better otherwise it’ll never go away. Trust me, been there many times! If you absolutely have to do something then stick to gentle stretching exercises. When you’re fit and well you’ll absolutely nail the running again I promise. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
