Coming up to my 54th birthday and never been a runner. This Couch to 5K is a fantastic app and provides a great balance of support and confidence. Just like having a personal trainer.
The progress that can be made over the weeks is amazing. A great feeling of self achievement. Pushing for a half marathon in April

Well done for catching the bug good and proper. But that might be pushing it too far to run 13 miles by April. You have 3 more weeks of this, then you need to consolidate your running before moving on. And April is quite soon. There is a bridge to 10k programme you could try. But if you push yourself too far, too soon you could give yourself an injury and not be able to run. And for us over 50s, this is great for us, but if we do get an injury it takes longer to heal than it used to. So slow and steady is my watchword.
I love your enthusiasm, but I'm going to say that I agree with DiscoRunner.
I think that your plan will push you too much.
It took me nearly 12 months to think about 10k, so clearly I am cautious 🤣, but having been injured, and unable to run for several weeks, then redo the programme, I can understand my caution.
Enjoy running for a while, improve your stamina. Consider JuJu's Bridge to 10k plan, it really is very good. 🤩
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
I don't know where you are in the process and if we knew we could offer appropriate advice, but assuming you may be near completion, like all the others, I think a half marathon for a new 54 year old runner is not impossible, but certainly not wise.
A 10k target in that timescale is far more realistic.
The motivation and purpose is to complete Sheffield half marathon in memory or a much loved niece who previously did the same. Reality is that I’m doing this with other family members and will be running/ walking. The Couch to 5K will put us in a better place for the jogging parts!
