Apparently if your resting hea...

Apparently if your resting heart rate is 10 beats or more above normal, it isn’t safe to exercise... well, I’m usually at 54-56 bpm these days but today it’s been in the late 60s/early 70s just lying in bed... My ex is a doctor and told me cheerfully tonight that I might damage my heart if I run with a virus. I do miss his cheery outlook on life... darn darn darn and bugger it.

Not heard that before? 🤔

Which bit? The heart thing is very rare but doctors tend to go for a worst case scenario, I find. The 10bpm I read somewhere a while back is a gauge athletes used when to stop training... don’t know if that’s one athlete or ten thousand lol

The not to run if your resting heart rate increases by 10bpm. Interesting.....

I know my heart rate raises when I don’t feel well or when I have over trained. If I wake up and don’t feel 100% I will have a look at my resting pulse and take that into consideration, I tend to use my pulse as an added Conformation that I’m not at my best. Saying that my pulse can vary a little as well, two glasses of wine the night before will raise the resting heart rate, so it all has to be evaluated as a whole. It is possible you are at the start of something and maybe you need to take it easy, I personally would make my decision on how I was feeling rather than just my heart rate as my monitor has a wobble every now and then as well.

Yes, as with most of these things, the tech is good as a comrade rather than a dictator. Strange metaphor. Still slightly feverish lol

An amendment to my post, yesterday you said you had a temp of 38*. I would say no running as well, that would take a bit to get over. Take care and speedy recovery.

no it's not a fuss - none of us are as tough as we want to be - Take good care - You have all the rest of your life to enjoy - none of this is that urgent!

Dunno much about heart rate as I don’t monitor.... running with a virus is tough though and not enjoyable... if I know running will definitely suck I don’t run. At least your ex still thinks you have a heart, don’t think any of mine did 😂

Haha! That’s cheered me up. I was grumpy as I changed my sweat-soaked bedsheets then had to sit down as the activity knackered me out!
