...To keep me from Runnninnng!

Hi, it's been many months since I last posted. I'd like to say it's because i've been too busy, but really that's just an excuse. The sad truth is i'd started to see running as an optional extra: i'd do a run once a fortnight or once a week at best. It'd become too easy to say I was too tired, or to not make time for it in my life.

The real truth is that running isn't an optional extra. I'd made the effort to graduate and actually my body and mind need it for my own health and wellbeing. There is always an excuse not to run, always a reason to do something else. But I owe it to myself to get out there three times a week, whether it is raining or shining, even if the in tray is full to bursting, even if i'm shattered, even if i'd rather sit on the sofa.

I realised this a few weeks ago and started again from week 2. I've just finished week six run two second time around and this time i'm going to make it stick.

Running: changing lives one step at a time.

It is very easy to let life get in the way of our running, but good on you for getting back at it. I always find it hard after a little break to get restarted, but once I do and feel that wonderful runner’s high, i’m quickly hooked again. I’ve had a week off now due to a holiday but am looking forward to my run today! Yay!

Welcome back and well done getting back to 3 a week. Maybe set yourself some post grad goals or events to keep you going?

Welcome back and thank you for an inspirational post. I figure that an hour out every 2 days (1/2 hour preparing and thinking about it and 1/2 hour doing it) is recouped in spades by the break from paperwork and desk hogging that running affords. I can always shift admin paperwork twice as fast a couple of hours after a run than if I had not taken the exercise. I consider it a good "return on investment" of my time spent running.
