I’ve just done my first 30 minute consolidation run since graduating. It was hard!! Where were my gazelle-legs, my powerhouse lungs and my Olympic stamina? Managing expectations must be part of Attitude of Mind training.
I’ll get there!

Oh, you've made me laugh! I'm slogging through the consolidation runs but I'm not asking myself where the gazelle legs, powerhouse lungs and Olympic stamina have gone - I never had them in the first place! But you're right, a lot of it is down to attitude, and without the lure of graduation maybe you need a new goal? And the best goals are the ones you set yourself, so have a think about what you would really love to achieve in 2019, write it down, believe in it, plan it and start working towards it - I am pretty sure you'll have those gazelle legs back in no time!
What are gazelle-legs?! Nope, none here 😂
Gazelle-legs, definition, anyone who can run sub 23 minute 5K could be considered as having gazelle legs. many people who run a park run on a Saturday are passed by a 'gazelle' usually in the second lap of a 3 lap park run, they will probably finish the park run in a time around 33 to 40 minutes whereas the gazelle finished in around 17 minutes.
Yup, no sign of them here! 😉
Your post reminded me of how I felt when I first graduated. I somehow expected running to feel easier but it didn't. But the magic bit is that the more you run the stronger your body becomes and in time it does feel easier. So just keep doing it 🙂
As you've probably already sussed, patience is the best lesson we runners can learn 😏
Oh I do agree- I’m not subjecting myself to another park run( 47 and 45 mins) until I’m gazelle- like ( or at least less plod-like) at 30 mins 😰
