Hello, I have just completed my first 30 minute run ! On syncing my Fitbit and doing the maths with my steps it seems I’ve run just under 3 miles which is not 5k. Any thoughts ?
Confused!: Hello, I have just completed my first... - Couch to 5K
Confused!
Your not running fast enough! 😊😊
At no point in C25K have you been instructed about pace/speed or distance. Perhaps in Week 1 you were told to run at a comfortable pace (one where you could hold a conversation). But there is no expectation about speed. C25K appeals to a wide range of folks, from teenagers and students, up to the more experienced, the overweight and the underweight, coach potatoes and active walkers... So C25K cannot say anything about speed. It is all about time. Your objective in week 9 is to run for 30 minutes. Which you have done. And you'll graduate when you've done this 3 times.
Some folks cover 5km in 30 minutes, many do not. Mo Farah runs 5km in 11 minutes from memory, but we can't all be like him.
So, 2 miles, 3 miles, 3 km, 5km in Week 9... it doesn't matter. 30 minutes is the aim.
Whilst the program is called C25K, it should really be called C2r430m3xi1w" but that is not so catchy.
If you really must cover 5km in week 9, then you'll need to be running faster.
You ran for 30 minutes that's all it takes Well done you...Two to go
same here but all comments seem to suggest building up slowly is better than pushing too soon...i am going to be patient and get 3 runs a week x 30 fortnight then check out the speed podcast
