W1 of 10 is the magic number. Have done the 2.5 & 5.5k runs on treadmill due to work/weather (becoming a bit of woose (?). Missing running outside so plan outdoor 5k in Saturday (started plan on Monday). Main point though....planks.... horrific. Who came up with this torturous exercise? Best I have managed is 33 secs and that is with every fibre of my being screaming & shaking. Must be good for you! Will keep trying.π
What the plank?: W1 of 10 is the magic number... - Couch to 5K
What the plank?
With you on that! And then the worse thing in the gym is when the trainer comes along and tells you your butt is too high and your not in a proper plank, when you actually thought it was getting easier. Haha. hashtagcheck your form in the mirror π€£π€£
33 seconds isnβt bad in week 1... keep going... soon you can do variations, like planking in one hand while tapping your right shoulder with your left hand and then switching. Low planks, high planks, high plank into push-up and back to plank... the ways of torturing yourself with little or no movement are endless π
Great for the core though! Itβs just like starting C25K... W1R1 was tough, so is 30s plank... but soon it will be easy.
Enjoy... if thatβs the right word

like everything else, it takes practice to do planks, 2 of those above exercises do have some breaks, the 7-minute one has 3/15 second breaks between the elbow planks, only the 3 minutes one is continuous.
7 minutes! Crikey. I think I would need a Couch to 7min plank app. Haha.
There is a 30 day plank challenge in the App Store!
Hi AlMorr, thanks for these, I will definitely check them out as I need all the help I can get! It has taken me many years to realise that to get better at things you need to practice! I'm a bit slow.π
Must try this planking malarkey. My core could definitely do with being strengthened. Sounds tough, good for you for sticking with it!
You do what you can. You start at the beginning and get subsequently stronger each time Same with your running. Slowly slowly ππ
Youβre doing it., thatβs what counts πͺπ
