Really struggled with my breathing the last couple of runs, anyone any advice? Just can’t seem to get enough oxygen in. Have had to stop for a few seconds just to try and get breathing sorted. I don’t understand it

I find that if I focus on my breathing too much, it gets much worse. Perhaps because you're hyper conscious, you're panicking about it a little bit. If I zone out by putting music on, my breathing is okay. Are you listening to music or anything? It could be a good distraction 😊. Also, you could be going a bit too fast. Slow down and see how you go. Good luck 😊

Funny Saturday was the first time I didn’t have music on. Usually do. I’m possibly starting to quickly

Any chance you are running too fast? It takes time for your lungs to be able to cope with running, so you need to start out very slowly. As your fitness increases, so does your lung capacity, so you will find yourself gasping for breath less. But Rome was not built in a day, so for the duration of C25K I would recommend you slow it right down. It will still be normal to be panting a bit after each run, but by the end of the programme it will be much less so! I used to gasp at the end of the 1-min runs, even when going slowly! Not any more…

Keep up the good work!

I’ve finished the programme, it’s only been the last few runs

Slow down.............

If it still happens at a slow pace, it might be time to consult your GP.

Could it be the cold air affecting you? Are you slowing down enough?

Could be the cold air, temp has dropped a fair bit, will try and slow down next run as well

Be recommended also to get one of those ‘buff’ things to wrap up round mouth for the cold air.
