How does one know which stretches to do before/after a run? Do I need to do either? No idea?!

Dynamic stretches, although there not stretches more of a range of movements ( confusing l know) before a run. Stretches after a run. There is a link on health unlocked. IannodaTruffe usually puts the link up so it may be in pinned posts

You should definately be stretching after a run whilst your muscles are still warm. This is the link to recommended post run stretching nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...

You can do some pre run stretches but as already mentioned these should be "dynamic" I will find and add that link momentarily...

Here you go healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

All of this is in the original How to run C25K link within FAQ post in the pinned post. It's really useful and worth reading a few times during the programme as more of it becomes relevant as you move through the weeks. It's a lot to take in at W1! 😁 I'll add that link too...

The pre-run advice here has been so useful - thank you all for posting! Before it got so cold, I was doing a 5 minute warm up walk. More recently I’ve been stretching at home first - but not dynamically! I’m hoping this will improve my next run πŸ™‚

Thanks for collating and posting this info GoGo; essential reading. Will be putting the warm up routine into my run this morning, which, if I succeed will see me through to C25K graduation.

Thanks again.

Please check this post out... loads of information here... about stretches too! There is a whole section on that...

There are folk who do stretch before a run and folk who don't..but afterwards ... always...

Dynamic stretches if you decide to do some before the run... your muscles need to be warm.

A good warm up is essential though.. with a really brisk walk at the very least.
