Hi all, well after taking time out for my shins, I’ve really lost my running bug, I was only starting W5 too. I’m not feeling my best if I’m honest, work is crap etc so I think it’s just my mood in general
Lost it: Hi all, well after taking time out for... - Couch to 5K
Lost it
Awww Monica, sorry to hear you’ve lost your mojo. ☹️
Please don’t give up, you’ve come so far. How about trying again by repeating a run you know you can achieve, taking it slower than slow and seeing how that makes you feel? The weather is beautiful for running at the moment.
Hopefully a successful run will kickstart your love for it. We’re here to cheer you on, so go on, give it a try. 😀🏃♀️👍
Hey Monica. I had to take a break midway through the programme too. Felt like a bit of a failure tbh When I went back to it I remembered just how good I felt about myself after each run - I’m such a gloater lol. I didn’t go straight back on the road though - spent a couple of weeks running on s treadmill to make sure my injury didn’t recur. Try it. Good luck.
Hi Monica, you know how work is crap etc. but you are still disciplined enough to go? Maybe your next run just needs you to feel the same discipline? If you ever finished a previous run and felt more free, clearer headed or exhilerated then surely you would like that again? It might just put some of that work crap back in its place, work has got no business upsetting your personal time!
Go on, get yourself out there.... You know you wanna! 😁
I was out for 2 weeks during W5. Lost my mojo on first run back. Folks on here were very supportive. Took a step back and reran one run and regained my spirit. Life in general has a habit of interfering with the things we love to do. I hope you find your happy place & get back out there. Good luck👍🏻
Ok... where did you see it last? I reckon it’ll be where you last ran... go look and, well you may as well go in your running shoes, and what the heck, have a little run while you’re there.
I’m just feeling sorry for myself, I will admit I’m very stressed and as uncle_wiggy said, work has no right interfering in my personal life so I am going to try and listen to that advice. Thanks guys xx
The weather is changing, night drawing in. I think we all feel a bit like that. Is there anything that can be improved at work? Once you've done a run you'll feel better, it's just getting out there in the first place. Anyone you can ask to go with you?
I've just read your intro. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. I think you should re-read it and do it for your Dad. Well done on quitting smoking, that is a big thing to achieve 👍
Hi Monica, we are all behind you in this. Just think how amazing you feel when you finish a run...you can get that feeling back again. I am really sorry you're going through a crappy time, even more reason to need 'you time' and turn this into something positive. You are only a week out? Is that correct? Maybe repeat the last run you did and then see how you feel. You can do it!
Hi, I am so glad you didn’t misspell your user name, I did have to look twice 🤣🤣
Yeah I’d started W5 so I think I’ll repeat W4, as we all say, it’s not a race this journey
It is a crappy time but we all have them, it’s nice you all allow me to vent on here, I don’t like doing it verbally as I might lose it if you know what I mean, better I try and stay calm, I’m stressed enough.
Anyway, pity party over, I’ll shove myself out of that door tonight whilst my curry simmers away 😊
Maybe your mojo is just under the couch, have a good push and get on with it and don't overthink it! Just go!
Go moni go
You got this 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Work is carp also so started applying for new stuff. Never too old to start again
Never thought I would be a runner 8 weeks ago
The world is your lobster 🍗 sorry only have pic of chicken leg but you get the idea lol
Well went to repeat W4 R1 and pressed R2 instead 😱 now know you’re probably thinking there’ll be a happy ending here but I’m sorry to say I didn’t complete, I did just over half (3min, 5min then 2min) should have been 3,5,3,5 but hey ho, I hauled my backside out and I do feel better, I’m about to sit down to homemade pasta bolognese 😃
Now that is a much better attitude!!
This is not a failed run, just a stepping stone towards a better one.
You certainly are a strong character who's been through an awful lot but you got out there tonight, and you will get out there again...hope you're smiling, because I reckon today is finishing better than it started 😊
Good luck with the job hunt too, someone out there is looking for someone who is just like you..... 🍀
Awww thank you uncle_wiggy, I was smiling but I’m smiling more now, thanks to your lovely comment
I certainly need a new job, as a single mum, better wages are always appreciated 🤗
I know where you’re coming from with work and stress and stuff - fortunately some years ago now for me but I do remember how hard it was to (a) leave it at work and (b) not sweat the small stuff. People tell you but the effect of stress on your mind and body makes it much easier said than done and it’s very hard for anyone who hasn’t been through it to know. Example of not sweating the small stuff: W4R2 is identical to W4R1 so no need to beat yourself up for pressing the wrong button! The important thing is you went out and ran and it improved your mood. That will make the next run easier. Running and walking are famously good for mental health and therefore a very sound thing to do in a situation like yours.
Hi Arthur, very true about it being the same, I guess the thought of 5 mins running freaked me, i managed it the other week but I’ve not run for a few days plus my mood wasn’t the best, I tried though 🤗
You are right though, especially with (a), I am my own worst critic if I make an error and it stays with me
Anyway, I’m chilling now before bed so here’s to a sound sleep 🙏
Well done for getting out there. Good luck with job, divorce and all the crappy life stuff. Glad you're on here so we can support all you. Something tells me you'll come out the other end of this period just fine.
My motto is every silver lining has a cloud. I like to be realistic!
