Last night I looked at the weather forecast and it was set to rain. Woke up this morning and surprisingly it was raining. I did not fancy running in the rain, this is a whole new element to contend with. As you may have gathered I was not innamered with the idea of getting wet. Also our waterproof running jackets have not arrived. Definitely was not leaving the house this morning.

And yet I got up, put on my running stuffs and a hoodie, put my phone in a ziplock bag and stepped into the rain. Why would I do this I hear you ask...madness mostly. I figured I would have to face the elements at some point and also there is the fear of losing momentum.

By the time I walked to the park in the drizzle I realised I had forgotten my water bottle, time to head home right? Apparently not. Ahh the first 3 minutes arrive and I am not prepared! I swear this is not going well, this is really hard this week. Maybe it’s not my day to run, maybe I should just go home. Ooh it’s time to walk...I’ll just recover a bit and see how I feel...ok so if I do the first 5 minuets then I’ll have done half, that way I don’t feel so bad about calling it off. I step in a puddle, my nose starts running maybe I’m sick we should just go home...dear god will this five mins ever end? Ok we’re walking again and there is the half way bell! Three mins, three mins then you’ve done most of the runs. Oh my goodness this hoody is getting wet! Why is there an interview on a playlist?? I really need a tissue! Ahh we are walking again that’s good! Oh no, there are 4 men in hi vis jackets and I’m about to start running again! Do not make eye contact!! I swear my hoodie is heavier. I’m not sure if I’m sweating or sodden at this point, oh great another puddle stepped in. I think my bum is tired can you get a tired bum? My god Michael is annoying me today, maybe I need a new trainer! You can stuff your last minute Michael. This hoody is really wet! This was a bad idea, why am I still running? Thank goodness it’s over!

All of the above included, do you know, it really wasn’t the worst run I’ve had! W4R3 I’m coming for you.😀😀

Brilliant, well done on getting out there and nailing it. I'm pretty sure that with that level of resilience you'll cruise through to the end of the program!

Thanks climberKB! Resilience perhaps! Cruising may be stretching it a little, certainly staggering towards the final run...success dampened by realisising I had a snot trail across my cheek when I got in...I’m one sexy 🏃‍♀️ 🤧🤧🤥😱

Ewww … nice picture you're painting there!

Running in the UK isn't quite like some of scenes on the TV though ... you know, those bronzed athletic bodies in figure hugging running gear, strutting along a Miami beach front without even breaking a sweat. We're out in the dark, damp British autumn, covered up to keep the cold out, dripping in sweat (in my case) and snot (in your case).

This morning, as I walked in from my run, my daughter ran up to me to give me a hug but then when she saw how hot and sweaty I was she just went "urggggh no!" and ran off. The price of our successes.

Ha I have no illusions about my attractiveness when running! But today was a real personal low 😂.

I see your point, we are becoming the running elite-all terrain runners, capable of fending off all the elements! By far the braver if pastier version of our lithe compadres across the pond.

The price is worth it! I’m sure she will hug you after you’ve showered😂😂

Now that is committment. Well done. I bet after all that you felt amazing for completing the run.

I was remarkably chuffed, I even woke up chipper this morning and fancied a run...the restraint not to is a lot too. There should be a warning on the addictive nature of running. That said I seldom want to run on running days😂😂😂

Me too 😂. On non running day “ooh I fancy a run, shame I can’t” - on running days it takes three hours (min) to get out there!

Well done you! I got up, saw the weather and got back in bed, totally bottled it so going tomorrow instead. As a glasses wearer the wet weather is a complete enemy, can’t see a bloody thing and then can’t wipe glasses dry cos clothes are soggy. Definitely investing in contact lenses if I am going to be a regular runner, and a running jacket of course 😄

I’d say as a graduate of the C25k you are already a regular runner! Go get your contacts! I wear glasses too but I’m only a bit short sighted so I can leave them at home but I know your struggle! I’m sure the run won’t mind being pushed back a day. ☀️🌤
