Keto diet

I know this one may be a little niche however I was wondering if anyone is running while following the ketogenic diet. High fat medium protein and a whopping 20g carbs per day made up from above ground vegetables. We’ve been on the diet for approx 3months. So far (starting week 4 tomorrow). Duck and I have been fine, except for today during Pilates where I kept cramping up. It may just be that I’m low on my salts so I’ll drink my electrolyte concoction (salt, potassium and magnesium in enough water to make it palatable) advised on a Keto blog but I just thought I’d check to see if anyone else had advice.

Cramping is more likely to be hydration and electrolytes than carbs by far... not sure low carbs could even cause this, your body is gonna use fats if they’re not there, and sometimes when they are.

When the muscles grow the lining (I can’t remember the name of it) does grow slower, foam rollers are good for loosening it, massage is almost as good, and possibly more fun!

I did C25K on LCHF and have been running 5K since. I did get the occasional stitch, but I don’t think that was connected to the diet, more lack of fitness. I do find running very hard, and the first 10 minutes (and sometimes the whole 35minutes) are exhausting. Of course I don’t have a comparison.

There are various athletes who follow a LCHF diet, and a friends daughter, who is a cyclist, has a similar diet advised by their nutritionist.

Maybe try Pinterest and Diet Doctor for more info?
