The trouble with waterproof jackets is that if you glow while running, even just a little bit, then you get wet from the inside out.
I have an orange Karrimor lightweight run jacket π§₯which I got in the sale - I was skeptical with memories of my Kagool from the 70s where it was wetter in than out !!! But Iβve found this one great. Not sure it will keep me dry in a downpour but kept out the worst of the wind & rain in the spring, without causing excess βmoistureβ if you follow!!!! And itβs nice & bright for dark days. Good luck with your shopping & your challenge- the plan is grrrreat!
Yes will get bright colour & reflectors hopefully
70s kagools though π
Ron Hill breathable and lightweight... I find it really great... no wet inside for me... but I don't seem to get overly warm when running ???
I've done a lot of cycling in all weather and so I generalise when I say this - if you are pushing yourself, you risk that boil-in-bag feeling.
Light breathable raincoats are no good in torrential conditions, and so called breathable 'heavy' raincoats will always leave you glowing more than you want.
As a newbie runner (W2R3 completed today) I prefer to wear only a rain hat to keep my Bluetooth headset dry and just get wet!
Then strip down and shower when finished.
Synthetic sportswear cleans and dries easily, but posh, clever coats don't! And even if they do, you have to re-proof them after a few washes.
Just be sensible about your expectations and keep a towel near the front door or in your car.

I'm concerned about getting my phone wet. I have a pouch thing for it under jacket but rain soaks right through jacket. Maybe our put phone in a food bag in pouch
Like the cap.
Jackets are great in the warmup... but I donβt think itβs cold enough for me to run in one yet... if ever
