What’s the time Mr Wolf?

I haven’t been feeling great the last couple of days. Not sleeping, feeling a bit sick and worn out. Consequently I went out for my second consolidation run with great trepidation. I’m still on holiday so got up early for the cool of the morning and drove myself to a beautiful place. I put Ed Sheehan on Desert Island Discs and Strava on for my distance. Checked my watch and set off. My run went well and when I stopped I felt I’d really enjoyed it and didn’t feel as knackered. No wonder, I thought. I’d only done 3.7k! It was only when I was halfway home that the penny dropped. I’d only run for 20 minutes 🙄 I had clearly not remembered what time Id started. I’d been wondering if I’d been trying too hard to crack the 30 minute 5k last time but my pace was virtually the same. I’m going to try it again on Friday - 30 minutes though and see how I feel afterwards. I’m trying not to place too much importance on the distance covered at this stage - not sure what my next goal is - running for fitness and sanity or 10k?

3.7 in 20 is beyond 5k in 30 pace... but you possibly went faster than normal... you’re certainly close to that goal... good work.

There are endless goals and there’s no rush to get decide. Building 5k pace would take you near if not over 10k anyway, so you may not even need to make a decision at all between the two distances. 30 minute runs would keep you in very good, and improving, state physically as well.

In my first consolidation run I managed the 5k - it was hot and I think I was concentrating on the distance too much. This is why I’m questioning my goal. I got more pleasure from this run than the last. What does that indicate?

I think being cooler helps, and the rain does that faster than sweating. I usually feel more comfortable in the rain until I stop.

Haven’t run in the rain yet. I’m looking forward to it. Yes, i do think the coolness helped this morning. Thanks UnfitNoMore 👍
