There are some podcasts available for people who can already run 5k but want to be faster - you can find them here:

Good luck!

Why aren't you good enough for the park run? there is no set time take a look at times of parkruns near you and you'll see. Doing the parkrun may actually help you get quicker too

I did one about 4 weeks ago and I can say it was a disaster I will only do it again when I no I ready I need to speed up on my running

in reply toGarden17

Why was it a disaster? Do you not have another one near you? maybe try a different location?

I’m slowly but surely increasing my speed, Garden. All I’m doing is getting miles (kms) into my legs by running 3 times per week - parkrun, 4k and another 5k, but increasing that one by 0.25k each week.

Without even trying to go faster, I am. Another forum member gave me this tip when I was at a loss too, and it really does work.

Just an idea! Good luck! 😀😀

Very true cheekychipmunks - you naturally get faster with time or by increasing distance gradually.

Have you read the guide to post C25K running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it is full of tips.

Speed takes time and comes with strength, stamina and good technique.

There are no shortcuts, but interval training once a week may be a good idea.

Parkrun is totally inclusive and non judgemental, so I would not worry about speed. Relax and enjoy yourself.
